A Family-Run Caravan
Park on the River Wear
in Weardale
White House & Hagg Bridge has been in the same family for 60 years. We're in Eastgate, Weardale, with the River Wear running alongside the park and the Pennine hills beyond. If you're looking for somewhere of your own to come back to, this is what we do.

No 15-Year Trade-In Rule

Family-Run for 60 Years

Spacious Pitches, River Views
A Different Kind of
Caravan Park
Most parks work the same way. You buy a unit, pay your fees, and after 15 years they tell you it's time to trade in whether it's worn out or not. You end up spending more than you planned on a timeline you didn't choose.
We've never done it that way. If your unit is well-kept and tidy, you stay on your pitch for as long as you like. When you're ready to upgrade, we'll help you find something, and a second-hand option is usually available if budget matters. The only rule is that the park stays looking good, and we put money back into it every year to make sure it does.
The park has been running for 60 years, family-owned throughout. Louise and her husband are on site every day. There's no head office, no call centre, no member of staff who can't make a decision. If something needs sorting, it gets sorted.
Three Ways to Own on Site
Whether you're after a seasonal getaway or somewhere you can use all year round, there's an option to suit.
Standard Static Caravan
Your own private unit on a spacious, staggered pitch. Open from 1 March to 31 October each year. Annual site fees of £2,100 cover your pitch rental, rates and water. Gas and electric are metered individually, so you only pay for what you use.
Mid-Tier Winterised Caravan
A step up from a standard static, with better insulation and glazing. Warmer and better-sealed than a traditional unit, still on the seasonal March to October licence. A good option if you want more comfort without moving to a full lodge.
Residential-Spec Lodge
Twin or single lodge units, insulated and built to residential spec. Available on a 12-month licence, so you can use the park January to January, through any weather Weardale throws at it. Annual site fees of £2,700.

On the River Wear in Eastgate
The park sits in what was a wooded area in the Wear Valley, with the River Wear running along one side and a small burn coming down from the village on the other. It's quiet. That's the word that comes up most from people who visit, and it's the reason most of them don't leave.
Stanhope is four miles down the road. The Cross Keys in Eastgate is a 10-minute walk from the far end of the park, closer to two from the nearer pitches. You can get there through the woods without going near a road. Dogs are welcome on site, and with the river, the woodland paths and the hills beyond, there's no shortage of places to take them.
